PRK
PRK was the first technique using the Excimer laser vision correction.
What is PRK ?
PRK (Photo Refractive Keratectomy) 1st generation
It consists of removing the thin surface layer of the cornea (epithelium) using a scalpel, a rotating brush or using ethanol followed by excimer laser correction.
Postoperative pain may be 4 to 5 days and visual recovery is slower. This is why PRK is more rarely used.
