I just came back from my 4-month post-op follow-up appointment. I've wanted to have my vision corrected for years (I was very nearsighted with astigmatism), but I had read too many horror stories, and as I have quite a bit of experience undergoing surgeries, I know that the result is rarely as ideal as we would like. A childhood friend told me not only about the ReLEx SMILE technique but also about Dr. Podtetenev, who is exceptional. I read and watched many videos on the subject and on people who had problems, and it seems that for this particular surgery, the skill of the surgeon matters a lot since there is a part that is done by hand. A few minutes were enough, and then I took about a week off from work without screens or close reading. My friend was right, this surgery was certainly one of the best decisions of my life. The first month, my vision was a bit blurry, but without pain. Now, 4 months later, I can see a fly flying on the ceiling through the window of a fourth-floor apartment at night, and even lights and screens don't cause me any halo or distortion!
